Janna Klein, NP
UCSF Pediatric Epilepsy Center
Janna Klein is the nurse practitioner for the pediatric epilepsy center at UCSF and provides care to children in the outpatient setting. Ms. Klein has been with the center since 2008, after graduating with a MS in nursing from Columbia University, where she wrote her graduate thesis on the treatment of epilepsy in children. In addition to seeing patients in the general clinic, Ms. Klein runs the Ketogenic Diet program.

Maritza LopezMaritza Lopez, RN, BSN
Maritza is our Epilepsy Nurse Specialist and has been with the UCSF EpilepsyCenter since 2004. She received her Bachelors in Science from San Francisco State University and a Masters at UCSF. Maritza works to advise, assist and coordinate care for the patients seen in the clinic. She is a member of American Association of Neuroscience Nurses and is a certified Neuroscience nurse. She also serves on the advisory board for the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California. Maritza speaks fluent Spanish.

Rowena Mah, RN, MS
Rowena is the pediatric epilepsy nurse coordinator and case manager for the children with Dravet syndrome and related epilepsies.

Rowena has worked in the UCSF Department of Neurology for about 10 years. She previously served as a clinical research nurse in the Memory and Aging Center, Parkinson’s Disease Research Center, and was also the nurse coordinator and research nurse in the ALS Center. Rowena is a member of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses and the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. She is a graduate of SFSU and obtained her Master’s Degree in Nursing from UCSF.

Lucinda Rinaldo, RN MS CNS
Lucinda is the Nurse Specialist for the Seizure Disorders Surgery Program under the leadership of Dr. Robert Knowlton. She received her Bachelors from UC Berkeley in 2001, and graduated from the UCSF School of Nursing with her MS in Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in 2013. She has been with the medical center since 2009 and has worked previously as a nurse case manager for the Department of Neurology. Lucinda closely follows and assists in the management of all the pre-surgical candidates throughout their
evaluation for surgery, and works to keep in contact with referring providers. It is also her goal to promote excellent care for all patients
admitted to our inpatient video EEG monitoring unit. She is a member of the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, the Sigma Theta Tau International honor society of nursing, and American Association of Neuroscience Nurses.

Mariann WardMariann Ward, NP
Mariann has been with the epilepsy team for over 15 years. She started as the epilepsy nurse specialist and currently works as nurse practioner with Dr. Barbaro. Mariann assists all patients that have undergone surgical intervention by Dr. Barbaro.
